A compact weekend house in Brezovica that places living spaces above the bedrooms to frame uninterrupted mountain and river views.

G&F House in Brezovica takes an approach in which nature and landscape determine the internal organisation. This compact 110 m² weekend house is designed around the principle of inverted living.

Unlike a traditional house, the living room is placed entirely on the upper floor to maximise open views towards the mountains and nearby river. The bedrooms sit at ground level, protected by the slope and surrounded by the quiet of the landscape.

The upper floor is conceived as a large viewing nest beneath a high timber ceiling that follows the asymmetric roof. A full-height glazed front dissolves the boundary between interior and nature and opens onto a frameless glass balcony. Below, solid concrete walls anchor the sleeping level into the green hillside, providing natural thermal protection and privacy.

The logic of G&F House was inverted to serve the experience of the view. Anthracite profiled metal protects the upper volume from Brezovica's heavy snow and gives the house a distinctly contemporary silhouette. The grounded base reduces unnecessary excavation, while the combination of dark metal, exposed concrete and natural timber reflects the material palette of the surrounding landscape.
