A contemporary mosque in Prishtina where geometric clarity, filtered light and shared public space shape a quiet spiritual setting.

VR Mosque in Prishtina represents a new and visionary approach to sacred architecture. Moving away from overloaded traditional forms, this public project is developed around minimalism, geometric purity and light as its main mystical element.

The building functions not only as a place of prayer, but also as a meeting point and a place of social integration for the surrounding community. An open planted square and a children's play area restore the mosque's historic role as a centre of public and urban life.

Across 800 m², every architectural element has been stripped of unnecessary decoration to make room for reflection and calm. The minaret is conceived as a slender monolithic tower, with an open circle at its top symbolising unity. A vertical strip of linear LED lighting along its edge becomes a visual beacon for the city at night. The main cubic volume is wrapped in a delicate screen of white brick—a modern mashrabiya—which filters sunlight into the prayer hall as soft rays during the day and allows the building to glow from within after dark.

With VR Mosque, we wanted to create a space where architecture does not shout, but remains quiet to leave room for spiritual peace. The play of light and shadow changes throughout the day, keeping the interior alive. The stability of the cubic form and the verticality of the minaret create a symbolic connection between earth and sky, while the absence of visual barriers makes the mosque accessible and welcoming to every generation of the community.
